About Dr Amber Batson

Dr Amber Batson graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1999 and has worked in clinical veterinary practice ever since. Early in her career, she recognised the close relationship between health, disease, and behavior, and the importance of understanding both the physical and emotional needs of dogs.

She completed several years of behavior-focused education alongside her veterinary work and, in 2007, founded Understand Animals to bridge the gap between behavioral science and practical application.

Today, Amber teaches internationally, providing both in-person and online education on animal behavior and welfare. She continues to work part-time in veterinary practice, promoting compassionate handling, offering behavior consultations, and working on welfare cases as a legal expert witness.
